Personal Dictionary

As I’m reading fiction I keep a list of all the words I don’t know along with a definition. The following represents a personal dictionary of words I have ‘learned’ since 2015. Contrary to the claim that I have learned these words is the fact that I have added many of the words more than once. Since the ‘while-reading’ lists I maintain are by book and order of encounter rather than total alphabetical order in a master list, this happens quite a bit. My worst offender is ‘Proscenium’, which I added to the dictionary 8 separate times (!). Such words are appended by a number, as in ‘Abattoir n’, representing the (n+1)th addition to the list.

I had started the list in early 2015 when I read Blood Meridian, and at the time I was only tracking the new words, rather than words plus definitions. As a result, there are a number of words that are included without definitions here, listed as UNDEFINED.
